Shodor Interactive: Factorize

Factorize provides a great practice in factoring numbers. A random number is generated and a box is provided to offer the factors for that number, with immediate response to the accuracy of the factors given. A graphing area below allows the user to visually demonstrate the statement made in each factor pair and check their answer. Allows user to enter a number of their choice to factor. Great tool.

Shodor Interactive: Factorize Two

Factorize Two is much like Factorize, except there is no way of inputting factor pair values. All factor pairs that are discovered must be done using the coordinate plane, and if the answer is correct, then those factors will be added to list. It does still offer the ability to enter a number of the user's choice to factor.

NLVM: Rectangle Multiplication

This virtual manipulative helps the user visualize the multiplication problem they are performing. Use the sliders to set up the two factors for your problem, and the rectangle on the left will fill accordingly.

Use the n slider to choose which number to factor. A factor tree is provided just below the slider, demonstrating the prime factorization of the number. To the right, there is another slider demonstrating the prime factorization. As you move the slider from left to right (or vise versa) the rectangle model below shows the various factor pairs. Very thorough.

This program allows users to input a number and find its factors, the square root, how to write it as a fraction (if it is a number containing decimals), and whether the number is prime or not. If this tool was used for FACTORING and finding the factor pairs, one should note that it will not show the pairs themselves. However, if you match the first and last number, and work your way in, you are left with the factors.
